The mission of the Valdai Conferences is to create an international framework where the leading representatives of Russian politics, media, academia and business can interact with their foreign counterparts in open and informative sessions.
The conferences are organized by Russian News & Information Agency RIA Novosti, the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, Russia Profile and Russia in Global Affairs magazines, and The Moscow News newspaper.
The Valdai Club conferences have taken place at Veliky Novgorod, Tver region, Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous Area, Tatarstan, Rostov region and Chechnya. Yakutsk region was the venue for the Valdai 2009 summit, “Russia and the West: Back to the Future”.
